Update: These babies are SAFE!!!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who crossposted their photos and story like crazy.
An extra big thank you to Suzanne, Kay, Kimberly, Carolyn, Bill, Patty & Beth for coming together to get these sweeties from the shelter to foster homes today. We love ya!
Today may be their last chance to make it out of the shelter alive!
Please help us crosspost!!
We need someone to pull these puppies from the shelter AND a 3-week short-term foster hold in order to save these pups.
These 6 6-week old catahoula mix puppies are in a very high-kill shelter in JENA, LA. The shelter has no A/C and temps are reaching over 99 degrees outside today. These puppies are suffering in the heat. The shelter is open until 2:00pm CST today. It is closed tomorrow. If left there over the 4th of July holiday, I feel strongly that the puppies will not be alive. Their little systems just cannot handle the heat like this. Please, please help us save them!
We are already approved to pull from the shelter. We are committed to taking these sweeties into rescue and covering all of their medical bills — we will even ship the foster puppy pads, food, toys, chewies, etc. But we cannot do any of this without a committed 3-week foster family for these babies (3 weeks so that they can received two rounds of DHPP booster vaccines before transport). Can you help? Do you know someone who can? We are desperate to save them! We can easily split the babies up into groups of two or three to make fostering easier!!
Jena, LA is located 65 miles from Monroe, LA; 130 miles from Vicksburg, MS; 130 miles from Baton Route, LA.
Note: the momma to these pups was not surrendered with them, sadly. Her owners have kept her to continue breeding. The person who dumped the puppies at the shelter said that she had accidentally bred to a catahoula and that these pups were unwanted.
If you can assist us with PULLING or SHORT-TERM FOSTERING these babies, please email us ASAP at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks in advance for your crossposting help!
