Cartwright is a true Southern gentlemen.

He is a two year old lab guy who has a ROUGH six months. Cartwright’s first family decided that they were through with him and dropped Cartwright off at the shelter, breaking this sweet boy’s heart. But this wasn’t any fancy shelter. The shelter his family left him at was a very rural shelter that’s nothing but an uninsulated Butler type metal building that offers no venting and little care. The temperatures easily reached over 100 degrees in the shelter this summer, and Cartwright suffered not only from the stress of being left behind by his “family”, but also from the extreme heat.

In just a few weeks Cartwright went from a healthy, happy guy to a pup who was losing hair, covered with mange, and downright depressed.

Luckily, Cartwright was taken in by a local foster who has helped him come back to life. He is past the mange and is back to being the happy, healthy pup he once was. Now Cartwright is ready for a forever home & Bonnie Blue Rescue has committed to taking this sweet guy into rescue.

Cartwright is light HW positive, but should be a great candidate for “slow heartworm treatment”. Cartwright will be neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and dewormed prior to adoption. Bonnie Blue Rescue will also monitor and fund Cartwright’s slow heartworm treatment over the next 12-18 months.

What Cartwright needs right now is a FOSTER HOME or FOREVER HOME! Does anyone have room in their hearts for this handsome man who so deserves a chance?!

Details on Cartwright: approx 2 years old, learning good leash manners (with a little help from a Halti Harness), knows basic commands like “sit”, is sweet and so friendly. Cartwright does very well with other dogs and seems to like everyone he meets. He has not been fostered in a home with children and because of his age and size younger children are probably not the best bet (he could easily knock them over). Cartwright is housebroken and crate trained.Cartwright is a doggedly loyal lab guy who is so deserving of a true family of his own.

Email us at if you are interested in fostering or adopting this handsome guy!
