Sweet Lucy needs a forever family.

This darling girl was surrendered to a high-kill rural animal shelter in West Monroe, LA with 6 of her puppies. She and her babies were held at the shelter for 7 days and were rescued just in the knick of time – they were all set to be put to sleep the same day they were ‘sprung’. Undoubtedly, Lucy thought that her luck had changed. For the first time in her entire life, she had a home of her own, a soft comfy bed to sleep on, consistent meals and love from her humans. What a lucky pup!

Lucy had no idea how unlucky she still was. Within a week of getting sprung from the shelter, all 6 of Lucy’s puppies contracted the parvovirus. The puppies were all rushed to the vet clinic to begin emergency treatment (which for some pups would last as long as 10 days). Despite our best efforts, 4 of Lucy’s puppies died.

Lucy did not get sick.

Fast forward one month: Lucy has an adoption pending with an approved adopter in MA. We transport Lucy from LA – MD with the intention of transporting her to her forever family in MA the following weekend. Fast forward just a few days .. the adopter bails on the adoption. Not good.

Lucy has been bounced around from foster home to foster home over the past three weeks as she has journey’d towards her “forever home”. She deserves more than that – every pup does.

As a rescue, we are in a really tough spot. All of our “typical” BBR foster homes are full.

On Sunday, Lucy will be moved into boarding unless we can find an alternate foster home.

Lucy will not do well in a boarding-type environment and we are desperate to find an individual or family who is willing to take this girl on for a few weeks or until adopted.

Can you help us “share” this page and help change Lucy’s luck? All Lucy needs is a foster home or a forever family to step forward and offer to open their hearts and home to this sweet girl.

Details about this special girl: Lucy is a 2 year old labrador retriever mix girl who truly has a ton of love to give. She is cratetrained and housebroken, up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped and current on flea/tick/heartworm meds. Lucy LOVES LOVES LOVES to play ball, snuggle with her people, and go for walks. She is happy to ride around in the car or just lounge around on the couch.

Lucy can come to my house if she gets along with other animals. I have a black lab, a maltese, two cats and a bearded dragon. She can stay as long as she wants….
