Rest in peace, sweet girls.

We’ve lost our babies.

It is with heavy hearts that we share that our last two little darlings from the Jena-6 litter, sweet Dolly & Lady Bird have peacefully crossed over to Rainbow Bridge this afternoon.

Their condition had deteriorated so much today that Dr. Mina felt that there was no way these sweet babies could bounce back – they were very, very sick. These baby girls fought hard but simply were unable to keep on fighting.

Our hearts are shattered over the loss of these sweet babies.

We had braced ourselves to lose one or two babies after the parvo diagnosis — but the idea of losing all 6 was incomprehensible. And now we have. Loss of this magnitude seems to have no words.

It’s amazing to us how just a week ago we were springing these healthy, happy babies from the shelter and working to get them settled into their new foster home with foster momma Beth. How quickly everything can change.

I keep rereading this email message that Beth sent me the night that the babies arrived in her home. These lines get me every time: “As I bathed each one I wrapped them up in a towel and told them Everything would be ok now. Gave them a kiss and put them in a crate where they’re all piled on top of one another sleeping. I covered them up with a light blanket and they found their place.”

Perhaps the most comforting part in all of this is that while these girls were not with us long enough, they were with us long enough to know love. & THAT is something.

Run free sweet babies and know that you were loved, and loved, and loved.

Oh my gosh, they are so beautiful. This is so sad ;( If people would just spay & neuter OR vaccinate when puppies are born. I wish people who bring litters to a shelter were required to watch some of the suffering that we see. RIP little ones. At least you were very fortunate to know love. So many don’t get that opportunity …..

This is just too much to take in right now. I grieve with Courtney and the rest of Bonnie Blue and others who were touched in person and online by these precious souls.

God brought these little angles to Him for safe keeping and eternal play. But He didn’t explain how we’re to deal with this incredible sorrow. God bless you for bringing them comfort to their short, gentle lives.

Thank you so much for trying to save these sweet babies. Parvo is a truly terrible disease. Be at peace, little ones.
