168 (& welcome 2012!)

January 11, 2012

With the help of our shelter-rescue partners, short-term fosters, long-term fosters, transporters, crossposters, supporters and friends ….

2011 was an absolutely awesome year for Bonnie Blue Rescue!

But before I share our AWESOME NEWS with you …. let’s take a look back!

In 2009, Bonnie Blue Rescue had 5 foster homes and rescued 52 dogs.

In 2010, Bonnie Blue Rescue had 14 foster homes and rescued 93 dogs.

And 2011? 2011 was an even more amazing year than that!

In 2011, Bonnie Blue Rescue utilized 32 foster homes and rescued 168 dogs!

Even cooler than that? Of those 168, 36 were special needs pups –

5 came from a cruelty case in Mobile, AL

6 required major surgery while in the care of Bonnie Blue Rescue

22 were heartworm positive & went through heartworm treatment

15 were super seniors.

I am so very proud to be a part of the Bonnie Blue Rescue crew. I am proud to be a part of an organization who helps all pups regardless of breed, age, disability or special needs status. Who goes above and beyond to save the pups that other rescues walk away from, or ignore. And I am so, so proud of the incredible volunteers who work tirelessly to continue to support our small organization with your volunteer hours, crossposting help, networking assistance, donations, love and support.

From the bottom of my heart — THANK YOU — rescue would not be possible without you.

We cannot wait to see what is in store for 2012!

Considering fostering? Join us in 2012. The more fosters we have, the more pups we can save!

Sat/Sun 8.20 & 8.21 for Azlin & Dusty

August 15, 2011

Have you heard sweet Azlin’s story? This lovely chocolate lab girl was brought into rescue just a month ago. She had an injured leg. Sadly, her injury had started healing incorrectly and Azlin was in a lot of pain. After several vet consults, we opted to have Azlin’s rear leg amputated. It was a costly surgery, but we definitely made the right decision. Azlin is back to being a happy go lucky girl who zooms around her foster mom’s yard – only having three legs does not slow this sweet girl down! You can see photos of Azlin and read more about her online here:  Our other passenger is a very chocolate lab pup named Dusty. Dusty & his sister, Sandy, were supposed to come to rescue a few weeks ago but sadly, Sandy passed away the night before transport. We were incredibly concerned about her cause of death and canceled the transport. Sandy’s necropsy report is back and inconclusive BUT the vets were able to rule out many of the diseases that typically plague shelter pets. Sweet Dusty has spent the last two weeks on quarantine “hold” being watched very closely and is totally healthy. This sweet pup is ready to make his way to rescue and start learning about life as a much loved family pup. Can you help us move both of this babies up the road this weekend?

Azlin is up for adoption!

August 3, 2011

This sweet slice of chocolate cake is a lovely young labbie who loves anyone and everything!

Azlin is spunky, loving, very smart and is ready to please.

She loves playing with her toys, romping with her foster dogs and cuddling with her foster mommy.

Azlin is the center of attention and is miss social butterfly!

She loves meeting new people, new doggie friends and most of all, loves kids.

Azlin isn’t shy of handing out those wonderful pupper kisses!

Azlin has had a rough start but is back in the game and ready for a new beginning.

She had a pretty bad boo boo causing her to lose her rear leg, but that does not slow her down.

She is adapting terrific!

Who says a tripod is no fun, she begs to differ!

Check out Azlin’s video from this week:

If you are interested in adopting Azlin, please email us at and request a copy of our adoption application!
