**Happy Update: Snoops has a retirement home lined up in MD & will be moving there next weekend. HUGE THANK YOU’S to each of you who shared his story. He is going to get to live out the rest of his days totally loved & totally adored. Thanks for helping make that possible! **

This is Snoops.

He is an ~15-year old Shih-tzu boy who was dumped by his owners at a super high-kill shelter in Georgia.

Reason for dropping him off? “He’s old”.

Snoops is actually in great health for a 15-year old pup.

He is happy and sweet. Snoops is a super easy keeper. He loves to snuggle, nap, and eat!

Snoops is looking for a Bonnie Blue Rescue Retirement Home!

What does it mean to be a BBR retirement home? What’s involved? We are just looking for a family with a ton of love to give. A family who realizes that this super sweet senior boy still has so much love and goodness to share. You share the love; we pick up his medical bills. Yup! Bonnie Blue Rescue will cover Snoops’ medical bills for the remainder of his life if he is in a BBR Retirement Home. We realize that a 15-year old Shih-tzu boy probably isn’t the most adoptable … but we also know that he does not deserve to die in a shelter.

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to open their hearts and homes to our old man?

168 (& welcome 2012!)

January 11, 2012

With the help of our shelter-rescue partners, short-term fosters, long-term fosters, transporters, crossposters, supporters and friends ….

2011 was an absolutely awesome year for Bonnie Blue Rescue!

But before I share our AWESOME NEWS with you …. let’s take a look back!

In 2009, Bonnie Blue Rescue had 5 foster homes and rescued 52 dogs.

In 2010, Bonnie Blue Rescue had 14 foster homes and rescued 93 dogs.

And 2011? 2011 was an even more amazing year than that!

In 2011, Bonnie Blue Rescue utilized 32 foster homes and rescued 168 dogs!

Even cooler than that? Of those 168, 36 were special needs pups –

5 came from a cruelty case in Mobile, AL

6 required major surgery while in the care of Bonnie Blue Rescue

22 were heartworm positive & went through heartworm treatment

15 were super seniors.

I am so very proud to be a part of the Bonnie Blue Rescue crew. I am proud to be a part of an organization who helps all pups regardless of breed, age, disability or special needs status. Who goes above and beyond to save the pups that other rescues walk away from, or ignore. And I am so, so proud of the incredible volunteers who work tirelessly to continue to support our small organization with your volunteer hours, crossposting help, networking assistance, donations, love and support.

From the bottom of my heart — THANK YOU — rescue would not be possible without you.

We cannot wait to see what is in store for 2012!

Considering fostering? Join us in 2012. The more fosters we have, the more pups we can save!

Meet sweet Angel.

Angel is a Halloween baby & will be 3 years old this coming Halloween.

She is a shihpoo (shih-tzu/poodle mix) and grew up in a home with a single mom and her two young daughters since she was a puppy.

Sadly, Angel lost her family when they had to move into an apartment that only allowed one pup … so her sister got to stay with their family, and Angel made her way to rescue.

Angel is a super sweet and loving girl who loves to have a lap to hang out on. She is 14 1/2 lbs.

Angel is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and is current on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.

She is housebroken & cratetrained & totally ready for her forever family to come and find her!

If you’re interested in adopting Angel, please email us at and request a copy of our adoption application.

Meet sweet Milo.

Milo is a Mother’s Day gift gone bad. He was purchased as a gift for a mom who refused to even meet him (can you believe it?!)

Then he got bounced around on Craigslist before he ended up in the right hands – of our foster mom, Jackie!

Milo is a poodle mix guy (likely shihtzu/poodle mix or bichon/poodle mix). He is 1 year old, 13 lbs, and is 10″ tall at his shoulder.

Milo is excellent with kids and with dogs of all shapes and sizes! He loves everyone he meets (a total social butterfly).

Milo is also crate-trained & housebroken.

Milo will be up to date on flea/tick/heartworm preventative, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and neutered prior to adoption. His adoption fee is $300, $75 of which is refundable if proof of completion of obedience class is demonstrated within 3 months of adoption.

To apply to adopt Milo, please email us at and request a copy of our adoption application.
