168 (& welcome 2012!)

January 11, 2012

With the help of our shelter-rescue partners, short-term fosters, long-term fosters, transporters, crossposters, supporters and friends ….

2011 was an absolutely awesome year for Bonnie Blue Rescue!

But before I share our AWESOME NEWS with you …. let’s take a look back!

In 2009, Bonnie Blue Rescue had 5 foster homes and rescued 52 dogs.

In 2010, Bonnie Blue Rescue had 14 foster homes and rescued 93 dogs.

And 2011? 2011 was an even more amazing year than that!

In 2011, Bonnie Blue Rescue utilized 32 foster homes and rescued 168 dogs!

Even cooler than that? Of those 168, 36 were special needs pups –

5 came from a cruelty case in Mobile, AL

6 required major surgery while in the care of Bonnie Blue Rescue

22 were heartworm positive & went through heartworm treatment

15 were super seniors.

GO TEAM!

I am so very proud to be a part of the Bonnie Blue Rescue crew. I am proud to be a part of an organization who helps all pups regardless of breed, age, disability or special needs status. Who goes above and beyond to save the pups that other rescues walk away from, or ignore. And I am so, so proud of the incredible volunteers who work tirelessly to continue to support our small organization with your volunteer hours, crossposting help, networking assistance, donations, love and support.

From the bottom of my heart — THANK YOU — rescue would not be possible without you.

We cannot wait to see what is in store for 2012!

Considering fostering? Join us in 2012. The more fosters we have, the more pups we can save!

Dogwood

June 7, 2011

Meet sweet Dogwood (who goes by “Woody” in his foster home!)

Dogwood is a super sweet pup who is loving life in foster care.

He loves playing with his foster kid, and furry foster sister, Suki and snuggling with his foster mom, too!

Dogwood loves to romp and play, chew on rawhides, and play outside.

He is a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Great Pyrenees mix and is available for adoption.

Marigold!

June 6, 2011

Can you believe that this gorgeous, sweet little Marigold pup is still available for adoption?

Marigold is a true lover girl and a total snuggle pup.

All-around she is an amazing little girl!

Here’s what Marigold’s foster mom says about her:

“When Marigold came she was very quiet and shy, would duck and RUN if heard a loud noise or you said no, but boy is she coming out of her shell! She loves the other dogs and they all love her. She is the best puppy in the world and doing FANTASTIC with potty training. I really love this little girl. Something about her seems older than she really is, but so girly!”

If you’re interested in offering Marigold a forever home, please email us at bonniebluerescue@gmail.com and request a copy of our adoption application! But don’t delay – we think this stunning girl is going to get scooped up quickly! 🙂

And they are still up for adoption!

& they also need foster homes until they find their forever homes!

Tiny Tikes Transport: Sat 5/28: B’ham, AL – Richmond, VA

May 23, 2011

Alright y’all – this is one BIG transport but it is super exciting because it means that we were able to save 9 different dogs in the last two weeks (yay!) If you can help us move these pups to their new foster homes in Virginia this weekend, then our Birmingham area foster families will be able to rescue other pups in need this weekend – it’s a win-win! If you happen to be traveling along this route for the holiday weekend and can take a pup or two with you, please let us know. If we can reduce the # of dogs needing transported on a legged transport this weekend, then we will have a much easier time filling the run. Please note that these pups are traveling in 6 20” long puppy crates total. All 6 can fit in an SUV but the crates can only fit three-across in the backseat of a car/sedan. Thank you in advance for crossposting to help us get these babies safely to rescue!

Cheers!

Courtney
